| Do you ever look at your child and think they have your eyes or your hair? Maybe there are even personality traits that you may recognize in your offspring. But did you ever think about the influence a parent has on a child’s lifelong eating and physical activity habits? The habits established as early as 1 year old, will be the same eating and physical activity patterns many will battle in their adult years.

Soda, Sweetened Beverage Intake and Obesity in Children
| Childhood obesity is a serious health concern in the U.S. today and, closer to home, in the Victoria community. Because of the alarming rate of childhood obesity, a grassroots group of concerned business, health and education professionals called the Crossroads Health Coalition was formed to encourage the community to take action. Its mission is to reduce the burden of weight related diseases by decreasing the prevalence of obesity in the Crossroads region. There are many identified contributing factors to this problem, such as inactivity and excessive calorie intake.nbsp;

Water, it does a body good!
| Most Americans live in a dehydrated state! Did you realize your body is about 70% water? Your blood is 83% water, muscles 75%, brain 74% and even bones contain 22% water! Obviously, water is essential for life and good health. With diet crazes, we are familiar with elements like protein, carbohydrates and fats. We all know about vitamins; but, not enough emphasis is given to good old-fashioned water!
